If you are breastfeeding, wait until your baby is at least 2 months old before you try to lose weight. If you are breastfeeding, you will want to lose weight slowly. It helps you lose weight. I remembered to take these weight loss before and after photos on July 3rd…this marks 6 full months since starting the Trim Healthy Mama way of eating. I'm not a dietician, but I have successfully loss 100 pounds and I have kept it off, so I may know a little. After having my son I gained a lot, still got a while to go but im enjoying the journey and loving the food. One Year of clean eating and exercise. When I started I was getting dangerously close to 300lbs and have lost well over 100lbs over the course of the past year. 80 pounds down and I just found out that my diabetes is now controlled with an A 1 C of 6.4%! The most strict and discipline I’ve ever been. It’s not going to be fast and easy. But it’s totally worth the pain and time :) I have most recently reached my “peaks.” My peak in depression and my peak in weight. The turning point was learning I had an Iron and B 12 deficiency as well as a health issue which triggered some hormone imbalances. These are my first before and during photos, I still have a long way to go but I am proud of myself for getting this far already. Sophie put on several stone (left) after several illnesses, including a broken ankle, an abscess and glandular fever. I was bummed that I wouldn’t be able to try the local brews at restaurants and worried that I’d make other people feel uncomfortable if I wasn’t drinking during dinners and they wanted to. When I started with the trainer I began cutting back on food but then he showed me Fitday in mid-Feb and I was hooked. I have kept calories between 1500 to 1800 for the most part (seemed reasonable for a 1-1.25/week weight loss). He has me keeping protein around 30% and carbs around 25% - leaves about 45% for fat which seemed high but he says not to worry b/c it comes from good fat and it's most important to keep protein high/carbs low. I only weigh myself once/month so that I don't get depressed or obsessed with the scale. After the first 2 months I told myself that it was going to a slow process/maybe muscle gain/etc. But it has been 3 months now and I'm a bit worried. I'm not going to give up on this weight loss but I really need a positive motivator! I hate to say this, but 3x a week would not help me to lose weight, I have to be at it 5-6 hours/week or there is no change. The trainer clearly has you on some sort of muscle building routine, which will not make much difference in the scale. I think you probably need to make it clear to the trainer that you want to get in shape and lose weight, which would most certainly add some cardio to your routine, and possibly a lower caloric intake (IDK because you didn't give any details about your current height/weight, gender). I agree with almeeker; putting cardio in is a good way to burn calories, but definitely use it in addition to, not instead of, the weight work. Just because your trainer says one thing doesn't mean it is the answer for you personally. For years I was on the low-fat bandwagon and wondered why I never lost as much as I wanted to. Good luck and hang in there; your answers will come to you. And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good.
After I had my two kids, I had horrible back pain, and I began to feel dizzy a lot. After 2 back surgeries and countless doctors, I felt like I had no help from the medical world at all. It was very difficult to care for my family, and I knew that there had to be something I could do to feel better. Okay, maybe I cared a little, but STILL it was more important to feel strong and healthy. I heard my sister-in-law was doing a juice feast to heal her body, and I became interested because at that point I was willing to try anything to feel better. Feasting on juice was great in detoxing me from sugar, white flour, and junk food. I only lost 8 pounds, but I was also able to detox from pain medication and junk food. I don’t usually recommend this for other people and here’s why: I don’t think the minimal nutrients in fruit and vegetable juices necessarily help my body as much as the avoidance of all processed foods during that 30 day juice cleanse. For all the benefits, my body definitely suffered during that juice cleanse. Now I understand that I would have experienced a suitable cleanse just from eating homemade foods and avoiding anything processed or packaged or chemical-laden. I would also recommend implementing a cleanse (whether it be with juice or eating fruits and vegetables) only during the summer months. By the time I was finished with my 30 day cleanse, I transitioned to a vegetarian, plant-based diet. After a year on a plant-based diet, not feeling much better than before and still with some weigh to lose, I decided to do something even more drastic. And the most surprising thing of all? Here I was, eating REAL FOOD from all food groups without any major restrictions, and was feeling great!
