Hot Healthy Paleo Girl Reveals Secrets of 115lb Weight Loss

That was the year I put on a couple of pounds and my eyesight started deteriorating. What was the trigger that finally set you off on losing the weight and not looking back? What do you do now that you couldn’t do before you lost the weight and resolved your health issues? He started feeling sick after he did this and came to the conclusion that he was intolerant to wheat. Who were your supporters when you were losing the weight and who are your support team now? Which foods set you off and you fall off the paleo wagon? The trick is to just buy enough so that you indulge and it’s gone. And don’t consider it “falling off the wagon.” Just because you ate something that isn’t paleo, doesn’t mean you are no longer paleo. That is the only hard and fast rule I have. And you do that by changing your diet. We’ll bring something for them to eat and talk to the parents before we go to see what they’re going to have there. It was getting too time consuming and I was on the road a lot. It’s the sense of community and meeting others like you at events like Primal Con and Paleo FX that you won’t find online. more...

The results are in : I survived 28 days on the

At the beginning of January, I started a 28-Day Transformation Challenge that has truly been a life-changing experience for me. My goal for the challenge was to achieve a perfect score. And I exercised for at least 10 minutes every day (a heck of a lot more than that on most days). And for that, I am proud. Before the challenge , I can safely say I was addicted to and dependent on sugar and bread. We did 100 burpees for time before and after the challenge. I was not as tired during the day as I’d been feeling prior to the challenge, and even after tiring days I was still wide awake (and I don’t drink caffeine). Instead of feeling crazy, for the first time I felt completely in control of my food choices and practiced some insane will power. Going out to dinner and finding something that fits within the parameters of the challenge and paleo diet is very difficult. R Unladylike and I found ourselves avoiding social events during the challenge because it just made things harder. And that isn’t a realistic way to live. Will I keep following the paleo diet now that the 28-Day Transformation Challenge is over? more...

Almost 60 days Paleo - - no weight lost

I have played with more calories, a little less calories too and just feel stuck. Posts: 85. Are you following the whole 9 meal plan, what are your macronutrient ratios? Posts: 2,626. In addition to what Thom asked, what is your height and weight? PM if you want and I can try to find someone that may be able to help you in your neck of the woods. I am doing my best to follow the meal plan (not commited to the Whole 30 right now in terms of no sugar at all and no alcohol) although it feels like A TON of food for me so I have scaled it down a little bit. I have gotten over the hump with worrying about too much fat. The most important to note, is that it's man made and contains a chlorine molecule. WOD's 5-6 days, and a 2-3 mile run on your "day off" may be another reason too. Not what you want. more...

Tips and Tricks for Losing Weight - The Paleo Mom

Tips and Tricks for Losing Weight. Don’t Eat for 3-4 Hours Before Bed:  When you eat shortly before bed, you increase your metabolism and stimulate growth hormones, which makes it very difficult to lose weight. One of the key points here is that “over-training”, by which I mean doing something that is too stressful for your body, ends up increasing cortisol and derailing your weight loss efforts.   If you are also keeping your sugar intake fairly low, then this is really great for regulating your hunger too. This only works if your stress levels (specifically your cortisol levels) are well-managed (you should be getting plenty of sleep and lots of low-strain exercise). If you are already eating fairly low carbohydrate (say less than 50-75g per day), you might actually be going too low carb for your body. Other things that are good for supporting your thyroid are managing stress, getting enough sleep, and eating lots of seafood (for the iodine and the selenium). Patience:  As I mentioned above, it’s possible that you are already at a great weight for your body, even if it isn’t what you were hoping to achieve.  If you do still have weight to lose and you are doing everything else right, it might just be that your body needs some time to adjust hormone levels (but also check out my post on Female Hormones, Weight and Autoimmunity ), adjust the number of receptors on cell surfaces, and repair itself. When your body is ready (and this might take one to three months), you will start losing weight again. more...

Significant Weight Loss on the Whole30

Today, we are so proud to feature Whole30’ers who have lost significant amounts of weight thanks to a general Paleo template and our Whole30 program. I started a Whole30 in February of 2013 and I have never looked back. I could have punished myself with the gym and obsessed over calories, but the success that I have achieved by doing it from a place of self-love and self-respect is worth so much more than the size of my pants. I have found that focusing on important internal things instead of a number on the scale or a pants size has turned the Whole30 into a lifestyle for me, and that means that it’s sustainable. The side effect of loving myself through a framework of Whole30 has been a weight loss upwards of 80 pounds, and many skin and pain conditions have completely resolved themselves. My life will never be the same and I have Melissa, Dallas and the Whole30 to thank for that! While researching Paleo recipes I came across the Whole9 /Whole30 websites, and the idea intrigued me. I’m the kind of person who finds it easier to have a black and white diet. I started my Whole30 on January 4, 2014, and lost another 19 pounds . I lost a total of 70 pounds this year, going from a size 16 to a size 6, and my husband lost fifty pounds effortlessly. We encourage you to read more of our readers’ stories and our A-Z testimonials  to learn more about what the Whole30 can do for you. more...

3 Reasons People Don't Lose Weight When They Diet

Believe it or not, you are not the first person to have a weight loss plateau while on a Paleo diet. And yes, while I think Paleo is far and away the most effective way to lose weight and improve your health, sometimes you need a little extra to achieve your weight loss goals. So there are many reasons why a weight loss plateau while dieting can happen, and in this post, I’m going to give you 3 of MY top reasons. REASON #1 WHY YOU’RE NOT LOSING WEIGHT WHEN YOU DIET: CALORIES. When you start to lose weight, your body gets to a lighter ‘set point’, and you need to eat even LESS calories in order to lose weight. If you’re eating too much for your current weight, lower your caloric intake, and you should start losing the weight again. REASON #2 WHY YOU’RE NOT LOSING WEIGHT WHEN YOU DIET: CAFFEINE. REASON #3 WHY YOU’RE NOT LOSING WEIGHT WHEN YOU DIET: SLEEP. If you don’t get enough sleep, you will put a ton of strain on your adrenals, your cortisol levels will get completely screwed up, and, your weight loss will stop. Want to eat the food you love, get healthy and start enjoying food again? more...

THE PALEO DIET FOR WEIGHT LOSS

THE PALEO DIET FOR WEIGHT LOSS. If you are trying the paleo diet to improve your overall health, just do your best to follow the rules: If you are looking to lose weight, there are few recommendations I have to tweak your rules. Download an app like My Fitness Pal on your smart phone and record what you eat. Doing this will help you familiarize yourself with your daily caloric, micro- and macronutrient intake. When you eat foods high in carbohydrates, your insulin spikes. When your insulin is elevated, the calories you are eating are converted into fat storage. When you eat protein and fat without an elevated insulin level, your body is able to use your food for fuel. When it uses up that fuel, it will then access energy from your fat storage and burn that off. Try keeping your carbs below 50 grams/day and see how you feel. But I promise you, if you can get that out of your diet, you will lose weight. They say to stick to red wine on the paleo diet, but that can really be detrimental to weight loss, especially if you drink it the way I do. One more note on drinking: the more you drink, the more likely you are do stray away from your dietary goals. On the paleo diet, you are most likely eating a lot of protein. The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism will be. more...

The Art of Losing Weight without Exercise - Paleo Plan

The reason for all this nonsense was that I put together the Primal Life Kit sale in those 6 weeks, and it was a LOT of work on top of my normal responsibilities at Paleo Plan. I’m fortunate that I’m not one of the many people out there who work this much all the time. Well, I get a lot of emails from people saying something along the lines of, “My main goal is to lose weight, but I don’t have time to exercise, so I’m not even sure this whole Paleo diet thing is worth doing. I’m not saying it’s healthy to not exercise, but diet is the most important aspect of weight loss, and I just want to confirm that you can lose weight or maintain your weight whilst sitting upon your ass all day every day and eating Paleo. The key here is listening to your body’s hunger cues when you don’t have time to exercise. We all get into habits with what we eat, but it’s important to remember to change things up, depending on what your body is telling you and how much you’re doing. If it’s 3pm and you usually have a snack at that time, but you’re not hungry, don’t eat. If you usually have dessert, but you actually just aren’t hungry for it, don’t have it. Just remember you have a choice about what you eat, and your body will help guide your choices if you listen to it. Not only that, but water is actually really good for you :) Make sure you always have water beside you so when you get the urge to take a sip it’s available to you. more...

MayDae - The Whole 30, Paleo, and Losing 47 lbs

I told you that Tristan and I both did The Whole 30  (a strict form of the Paleo diet) this summer and we had such a great experience with it.  We both lost weight, gained energy, and felt so great, that we decided to continue eating the Paleo diet after the initial 30 days.  I am happy to tell you (and a little in disbelief) that we have stuck with the eating plan since June, and have no current plans to stop eating Paleo!  We get asked a LOT of questions about Paleo and The Whole 30.  It’s funny cause I think people get inspired by Tristan and I because we were so NOT the healthy-eating types before this.  I give us FULL credit for doing it – there were days in the beginning that we wanted to quit and stuff our faces with every carb we could find.  Sure, you can just go straight into a regular Paleo diet, and a lot of people can have amazing success with that, but for us, the strictness of the W 30 stripped our eating down to the bare basics.  And when I say “do” the Whole 30, I mean DO THE WHOLE 30.  This is THE book written by the creators of The Whole 30 and explains everything that you need to know about it.  It’s really really important to understand the how’s and why’s BEFORE you start because it will keep you from cheating and making exceptions. I just want to say thank you SO much for all of the compliments, nice comments, hugs, exclamations of joy, and words of affirmation that all of our friends, family, and online community have been giving us. more...

Paleo Diet Review - Does It Work?, Side Effects, Buy Paleo

The Paleo Diet is a book that was written by Dr. Cordain works in the Colorado State University’s Department of Health and Exercise Science. In this book, Cordain sites works and studies that were conducted by himself and his colleagues as proof why the human diet needs to revert to our prehistoric ancestors, and presents what went wrong with the human diet and how to correct it. The concept and premise behind the Paleo Diet is very simple. Cordain maintains that the diets enjoyed by our hunter-gatherer ancestors and those current hunter-gather cultures are much more conducive to the genetic makeup of our bodies. For the first two weeks of this diet, exercise is not recommended. The biggest critics of this diet point to the fact that the lifespan of the hunter-gatherer is not typically all that long, and that they led overly active lifestyles. more...

My 5 Month Paleo Transformation - Robb Wolf

Problem was, I would see results for a few weeks, plateau then fall off the wagon and gain more weight than I started with. The freshman 15 came and went quickly and turned into the freshmen 30, then 50, then by the time I knew it I was up about 90 pounds from my high school weight. I was stuck, my triglycerides were over 300 and my Hb A 1 C was creeping into the low 6’s. I was feeling better, less aches and pains after working out, and for the first time in about 10 years went 30 days without fast food. The beginning of August marked 5 months with a paleo lifestyle. I am proud to say that I am now down 70 pounds in that 5 month period and only about 10 pounds from my weight in high school. I feel great and am hopeful that my next round of labs will show that a paleo lifestyle truly is the key to health. I still have goals to meet and I know the paleo lifestyle will not only allow me to meet them, but blow them out of the water. The paleo lifestyle has saved my life. A Fat Loss Template - Everyday Paleo

Today, I am going to lay out a solid fat loss plan for you that encompasses the four major inputs of health: nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management. The title of this post is “A” Fat Loss Template, because this is not the only plan that can work and I’m not guaranteeing that this plan will work for absolutely everyone. However, if you are looking for a magic bullet or something that will give you your dream body in a month, don’t waste your time reading the rest of this rather long post. If you only have time for a 10 minute walk on your lunch break, get out there! If you aren’t getting enough sleep, or if you are sleeping the wrong hours, expect to struggle with fat loss. If you just aren’t hungry, try to walk more and add more fat to your diet. You want to be lifting until the they put you in the ground, not injured and out of the game. If, in fact, fat loss is not happening for you, there are a few small tweaks that can be made. The most important things that you must understand about this tweak is that it should not be used be used too soon and it should not result in a noticeable decrease in calories. If you have a huge appetite and eat lots of food each day, this might be a good time to slightly reduce calories. Everyone is different and these are just estimates, but if you are a woman eating 1800-2000 calories, or a man eating 2200-2400 calories, this is probably not going to be a good tweak for you. If you overshoot this, you will likely begin to lose weight, and not just fat, which will include that hard-earned muscle mass required for a peak health metabolism. There’s no magic in there, but if you are used to mainstream weight loss prescriptions, this might take some magical patience and emotional control. I have never met the beginner that would not at least get healthier this plan, but there are those whose bodies will resist fat loss through these steps. more...

Top 5 Reasons You are not Losing weight on the Paleo Diet

Top 5 Reasons You are Not Losing weight on the Paleo Diet. If you are following a Paleo diet but have yet to reach your goal weight, consider the following Top 5 reasons you are not losing weight on the Paleo Diet or experiencing a weight loss plateau: 1) You are eating too many Paleo treats and not enough nutrient-dense, whole food. But if weight loss is your primary goal, you may want to consider how much of your diet is based on real food versus Paleo treats. Weight loss is more complex than calories in versus calories out, but the right type and amount of exercise does have an impact by increasing your metabolic rate and improving your overall hormonal environment. Chronic endurance exercise, such as running or biking for sustained periods of time, is likely to compromise weight loss and contribute to the development of health issues. 4) You are eating the wrong macronutrient combination for your body and activity level. Some amount of experimentation may be necessary in order to find the macronutrient combination that works best for your body and goals. Some people may discover that a low carbohydrate version of Paleo speeds weight loss, while the scale may not budge for others if carbohydrates fall too low, particularly if they are extremely active. In order to find your ideal macronutrient combination, pay attention not only to the scale, but to how you feel overall. These insights can help you to determine if the macronutrient combination you are eating is working for you. If you are adding exercise at the same time that you are making dietary changes, it is possible that your body composition is changing, although it may not result in any difference on the scale. There are often other health markers beyond weight loss that can more accurately demonstrate the progress that you have made by following a Paleo diet. Have you ever experienced difficulty in breaking past a weight loss plateau while following the Paleo diet? more...

Paleo Diet : Rediculous Weight Loss in First month and now

He's been lifiting since he was 14 and has done so everyday since, but He's massive in the both muscle and fat. I did that for 6 months and now have completed 4 years Mon-Fri at the gym. I'm not as strict as you on the diet, but CONSISTENCY is what made all the difference. Take the good stuff from everyone and do what works for you. With less than 20 carbs/day you are on the atkins diet and that shit is unhealthy not to mention when you do lose weight a lot of times your losing muscle and thats why you start losing so fast then stop. But what i do know is that you descibed what you are doing which is just like the atkins diet. And I hope that the paleo diet isnt just some rehashed ideas that atkins was doing because atkins sucks. I would say that similar to game you just have to trust in the process and just keep at it at all times. This will jolt your brain and the way that you're feeling in ways that you cannot imagine. I think that the only times that I would would be if there's really isn't anything healthy around or that I would want to put in my body at that time which apparently is also good for you but in small doses. So again I would personally just recommend keeping at it the way that you're doing and to try of course to add in some exercise to it if you can. more...

Results and observations from one month on the Paleo diet

Results and observations from one month on the Paleo diet. It’s been exactly one month to the day since I started the Paleo diet and I wanted to share some factual results as well as some completely subjective observations. If you’ve not heard of the Paleo diet , this is all the rage right now amongst the startup community. I’ve lost 15lbs in 30 days with only one visit to the gym and by maintaining my regular running schedule of 3-4x per wk. I’ve seen comments in various forums that remark on “a positive correlation between the paleo diet and douchebaggery” – lemme say this is not me being douchey. This has been a constant though over the past year leading me to draw the conclusion that the weight loss I experienced this past month is almost entirely driven by change in diet. So as awesome as I feel right now, I also know I feel pretty awesome after drinking a bottle of champagne ;-) This isn’t all roses and my concerns are the following: I’m extremely interested if anyone has data on a study that speaks to the long-term health effects of this diet (even 5-10yr data for a related diet like Atkins). How and where are people finding the grass-fed meat advocated under this diet? I have not yet read the Paleo Solution which I understand is sort of the seminal work on this diet. I did go off the rails last Friday for my friend’s birthday and have no less than 5lbs of pizza, some assorted cheeses, 2 slices of chocolate cake and a couple beers – all of which are not on the agenda for Paleo. And consequently I felt like ass the next morning as a result. 201130 Responses tohttp%3 A%2 F%2 Fscrollinondubs.com%2 F 2011%2 F 02%2 F 08%2 Fpaleo-results%2 FResults+and+observations+from+one+month+on+the+Paleo+diet2011-02-09+01%3 A 27%3 A 55seanhttp%3 A%2 F%2 Fscrollinondubs.com%2 F%3 Fp%3 D 2011 “Results and observations from one month on the Paleo diet” more...

How to Lose Weight on a Paleo Diet

How to Lose Weight on a Paleo Diet. I went Paleo to Lose Weight. It wasn’t easy for me to lose weight (even on Paleo) because I’ve never been overweight (and so there wasn’t many lbs of fat for me to lose!). Results after 1 week total Paleo - Weight Loss

This is a lifestyle that I enjoy and it's working for me. It's so nice not to feel sluggish and bloated after a meal. Did you slowly transition to Paleo and this is the first week of strict Paleo or did you jump right in? I spent about two weeks transitioning then a week ago I bit the bullet and went all in. - steak strips with green peppers and onions just EV olive oil and spices. These are the best and made the transition a lot easier. I am just trying it and I have lost 4 pounds in about a week. I probably could have lost a bit more, but I'm taking the 80/20 approach for a while and just starting to exercise a bit more. It's true that motivation and discipline is essential. Now it's 5-7 days on and 1 day off. more...

What were YOUR 1 - month Results? - Paleo/Primal

I was pretty heavily overweight (more than 100 lbs), so I did notice about 20 lbs off at the 1 month mark, with my jeans and shoes fitting better. I used to have blood sugar swings and I dont any more (that may have taken longer than a month) I am not getting as tired in the afternoon as others have noted, my energy level is not perfect but it is certainly more gradual and even throughout the day. I still lose concentration and focus sometimes in the afternoon but it seems that when i have sufficient sleep I just need a walking break to reset myself a bit. I have had some issues with my back, more than normal, but my chiropractor and massage therapist both seem to think that may be a combination of my composition changing pretty quickly and its taken my body some time to catch up, and the detox from the (far too many) processed foods I was eating before. Mostly, I've really just learned how my body reacts to different foods, and learned how to deal with that. I have noticed that my skin is clearer, and a couple patches of psoriasis that I've battled for a year on the tops of my feet are finally healing. It was really hard to stick to that many calories a day, but with primal it feels natural and easy. I'm doing Primal about 90% of the time, with a few modifications (drinking alcohol and eating legumes in moderation, for instance). I've lost about 3lbs in 3 weeks and my clothes still fit the same (haven't done measurements for comparison yet). ), really keep the drinking in check, and limit eating out - to see if that helps. I did the Primal diet about 2 years ago and lost a lot of weight within the first month, so I'm kind of disappointed at the less-than-stellar results. more...

10 Reasons You're not Losing Weight on Paleo - Paleo Plan

They told you Paleo was amazing, the food tasted great, you could eat bacon (omg!), and that they ate as much food as they wanted and they just. So you decided to try it for yourself, and in the first week you lost 7 pounds… Let me share with you what we’ve collectively figured out, and you can start experimenting with yourself to get over this little bump in the road. The moral of the story is that it doesn’t matter how healthy your food is; if you eat too much of it, you’re going to gain weight. If you record what you’re eating and find you’re eating too much (according to myfitnesspal.com), just cut down your calorie intake. Whatever the case may be, the amount of food you eat – and I don’t care what other people say about calories and Paleo – will have a large effect on how… You may be causing inflammation in your body, and water retention in your muscles is one of the ways inflammation manifests. If you don’t get enough sleep, you tax your adrenals and your cortisol levels can get out of whack, which can in turn inhibit weight loss, like I mentioned in the last point. If you’re eating over 100g a day and you’re not really working out at all, then you may be getting too many carbs. If you’re eating fewer than 100g a day and you’re working out intensely and regularly, then you may need more. So you can see that there’s a pretty delicate balance of not enough carbs and too many carbs in your Paleo diet. While you may actually be losing fat, the scale may not show it because you’re simultaneously gaining muscle, leaning out, and getting some tone like you’ve always wanted it. And be as honest as you can with yourself about all of them! more...

One Month of Paleo Diet - Weight Loss Motivation Tips

My friends have been raving about the paleo diet and last week I watched the documentary Fathead which made a lot of good points. I had some sausage and eggs for breakfast (490 calories) and chili for lunch (@500 calories). There's some construction downtown and it really backed up the buses and ended getting me home late. I'm not sure if it was the delay in eating or the diet but I was quite hungry when I got home. I had some salmon, carrots in butter and coleslaw for supper and for whatever reason I was still hungry later on in the evening. I have to do some pre-cooking since I was a little stuck for lunch and brought in pea soup. I can manage on 600 calories throughout the day without hunger (last meal at noon), but if I don't eat by 6:30 or 7 I start feeling week and even ill. 990 calories was just the meals. Had a banana and a nectarine for another 150 calories or so. It was the only sugar free snack I could find. Had some canary melon which I now checked and saw that they might have a high GI. Living without grains and sugar is a bit of a challenge but it's not all that bad. I tried 90 and 80 percent but they were too bitter for me at the moment, 70% is actually quite nice. I would like to try to find a substitute for the dates but I think they might be the glue in this recipe. I was mostly expecting to be at the same weight or possibly gain since I'm assuming it takes awhile for your body to adjust and start releasing nutrients from fat cells. more...

A Month of The Paleo Diet

A Month of The Paleo Diet. I’ve been curious about the Paleo Diet for a while. What Is The Paleo Diet? The Paleo Diet – short for “Palaeolithic diet” – involves eating the types of foods that cavemen (cavepeople) ate. For the month of May I ate 100% paleo. What I Ate Before The Paleo Diet. What I Ate While On The Paleo Diet. My standard breakfast while on the Paleo Diet. For my month on the Paleo Diet I was 100% strict. How I Felt On The Paleo Diet. What I Ate After The Paleo Diet. During my last week on the Paleo Diet I did the same thing – 9 readings each day for that week. My blood pressure readings before & after the paleo diet. Although I was a bit disappointed that the results I experienced weren’t more dramatic, I am glad that I did the paleo diet for a month. more...

LeBron James discusses ketogenic Paleo weight loss

Le Bron James said his dramatic summer weight loss was due to a low carb, ketogenic-style Paleo diet that eliminated sugar, dairy and almost all carbs. James, who has since regained some weight, said he followed his strict diet for 67 days as a test of his “mental fortitude” and willpower. For 67 straight days.” James said his diet consisted entirely of meat, fish, vegetables and low-sugar fruit. The 6-foot-8 Le Bron, whose weight was listed at 250 pounds last season, actually weighed closer to 270, said Windhorst. On a radio interview, Windhorst said Le Bron was inspired by the dramatic transformation of his former Miami Heat teammate Ray Allen, who got super-fit after switching to the low carb Paleo diet in the summer of 2013. The lanky 6-foot-5 Ray said he  promptly lost 10 pounds  after going Paleo. While weight loss was not Allen’s goal when he embarked on the Paleo diet, he said the diet gave him better stamina and dramatically improved his post-workout recovery. Volek said more athletes are now favoring low carb, high-fat diets such as the ketogenic and Paleo plans to lose weight fast and change their body fat composition. more...

How Many Pounds Can I Lose If I Eat Paleo For Weight Loss

How Many Pounds Can I Lose If I Eat Paleo For Weight Loss? Eating paleo for weight loss is becoming a popular diet strategy with the publication of best sellers like "The Paleo Solution" and "The Primal Blueprint". This is fat loss - not just weight loss caused by water and glycogen. This can be a complicated concept to understand but it underlies the value in eating paleo foods. Eat too many calories and your body stores this as fat. In a normal, non fat person the body knows how to manipulate hormones to process and eliminate food. Eating paleo for weight loss works because it naturally restricts most foods that cause hormone regulation problems in people prone to being fat. The popular MLB diet - meats, leaves, and berries - is a simple example of this eating strategy. Proteins like meat, fish, turkey and chicken can be trimmed of fat for cooking but are encouraged to be full fat varieties. You'll hear some doctors and professionals refer to paleo eating as being "low carb." This is not strictly true. For some people, eating paleo for weight loss is pretty easy. The paleo diet approach provides a simple template to follow to start someone down this path and see great results. more...

Calorie Counting vs Paleo — One Month

The numbers on the scale felt satisfying, and I had myself convinced that the sacrifice should be a source of pride. And if I missed a day, the dejecting feeling was mental torture. And while it flew in the face of everything I’ve learned about nutrition, the weight melted off. The exercise, in tandem, was incredible. So I did stretches and weights and still dropped the weight. And when I think about the math (running 3 miles will only burn 350 calories?), it’s not practical to exercise your way to weight loss. Being happy about what I could eat, how I could exercise, and how much hunger I’ll tolerate sets Paleo apart from just a diet. I’d like to differentiate losing 65lbs the first time around from losing 38lbs the second time. While I lost more weight more quickly in college, losing the second 38lbs took much less effort and had more benefits aside from my reflection in the mirror. From that practice grows an unhealthy obsession with the feeling of hunger, one that was never fun. And likewise with the exercise—feeling the obligation to sweat my clothes into color change every single day. more...
