Weight Lost: 103 Pounds. My Weight-Loss Secret: "I was too embarrassed to go to the gym, so I committed to walking three times a day for 10 minutes before breakfast, lunch and dinner. After a year, I'd lost about 40 pounds through a combo of diet and exercise. I kept walking, and eight months after he was born, I'd lost 63 more pounds. One is real hunger in the pit of your stomach; the other is an empty feeling you think is hunger — and it's something food can't fill. But when I lost the weight, I felt ready. Nisbet was the last one to board the ferry after the walk down from the bus, and the last person to board the bus for the ride home. But the Clifton resident of six years said he carried the embarrassment of that December night with him. "She told me that I was a heart attack waiting to happen," Nisbet said. But in college he said the pounds really started to add up. "The freshman 15 turned into the freshman 50," he said. Nisbet said he was probably over 400 pounds at some point. "That was when I nearly caved," he said. Nisbet said that to this day he has no idea the amount of money he handed to the cashier. He was 15 pounds from what Weight Watchers calls 'lifetime,' which is the target weight for a person that factors in age, height and gender. I was like a yo-yo, up one week and down the next," Nisbet said. Nisbet said that gave him perspective and showed how far he had come, and how close he was to the finish. Weight Watchers is not a diet, but a support group that relies on a point system, Nisbet said. "We grew up as the sitcom generation," Nisbet said.
